A closer look at Yavi

We have recently added a lot of new Yavi products to our collection, so we thought it only made sense that we take a closer look at this exciting new brand and all the innovative new things they are doing in the fashion world.

From their luxurious and generous use of vibrant colours to their avant-garde, almost impressionistic design philosophy, Yavi brings to the table what hardly any other brand dares to do. Their bold claim of providing ‘mindful designs for a conscious consumer’ permeate through to every fabric used in their traditional and by no means industrialised manufacturing process.

Bridging the past with the future

Using traditional, indigenous textile making techniques they seek to emulate the forgotten world of the past, one so easily (and unfortunately) swept aside by the relentless pace of our modern world. Interestingly, this enigmatic and seemingly forgotten manufacturing style is paired with a modernist and bold vision of what fashion and design can represent in the modern world, a technique that anchors this brand firmly in the 21st century.

Based in New Dehli, Yavi finds itself in the heart of one of the richest cultures on the planet, benefitting from its unique position as an iconic crossroads between the East and the West. As such, they have managed to encapsulate that effervescent and almost spiritual feeling of the rich and ancient traditions that have been enshrined within Indian culture.

Their decision to use materials like silk and velvet further heightens the quality and luxurious nature of these clothes. Each individual piece has such a unique character that it almost feels as if it was made specifically for you. It’s timeless and yet, somehow, provides a unique impression of bygone era in fashion history that seemed simpler, almost organic.

More than just a brand

But Yavi is far more than just an up and coming fashion brand. In fact, they have recently also expressed their interest in diversifying their designs and products to include other textiles and furniture. This cements their position even further as an innovative lifestyle brand that seeks to be so much more than just yesterday’s trend or the latest fad. If anything, it shows the commitment this team of eloquent innovators have to producing unique and tailor-made lifestyle goods for a modern world yearning for an emotional connection to the past.

Yavi is bringing personality back to the world of fashion and doing it in a way that is both unobtrusive and bold. The very name of the brand originates from the Sanskrit word meaning ‘conjoining of the earth with the heavens,’ a creed which trickles through to every work of art that they create. These delicate and tantalizingly intricate designs have an almost sacred quality to them and will quickly become the centrepiece of anyone’s wardrobe.

Yavi isn’t just pushing boundaries. They are redefining them.

In recent years, fashion has been one of the industries that have set its sights on the bigger, international picture, and it is now a truly global business that should not have to shift into reverse and become focused on only the home market. It has long been thought that fashion can only benefit from the rich mix that different nationalities bring to the table. But that is not to diminish the great fashion stories that this country has to offer, both well-known and under the popular radar.
